Missing in-world visual for damaging puddle of water (Lumber Mill pools)

Location: reservoir in lowland, after draining it.

There’s a small bit of poison water here that isn’t really visible (circled in red), probably worth fixing

Hello Toasted,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We will look into fixing this!

Regards
Stribbits

Repro:

  1. Get to the endgame.
  2. Clear the pestilence in Lowland Meadows.
  3. Walk towards boss area.
  4. Stop at the location in the image, near the lever.

Observed Result: The player takes continuous damage over time at what appears to be dry ground.

Expected Result: The player should not take damage here. Or, VFX should be added here for a puddle of damaging water.

Hopefully logs and dxdiag are not needed for this bug repro/fix. I just joined these forum and just saw the bug report rules, long after hitting the bug.

Semi-related feedback:
After the reservoir has been emptied, the damaging puddles of water (that have visuals already) within the boss arena are nonobvious damage sources during the stress of combat. It could be made more visually distinct, similar to the damage volumes that the boss spawns in the 2nd phase.

Similar to this bug report.

I will add to his by highlighting a spot in the area where I have died an astonishing amount;

I am laughing each time I die there, laughing in tears. You cannot roll away from the dig site, I don’t know how to interrupt digging once committed. My heart clenches together just thinking back about it.

I am so afraid of that puddle rim, it haunts me. I stay at the highest position, slowly nibble my way forward to the prompt still it can mean my death. Please, Moon Studios, deliver me from these terrors upon Cerimkind.

Puddles in dam area drained that are still toxic still present at Hotfix 6. Would recommend either removing all puddles and water or removing toxic condition in water so inadvertent death doesn’t occur when fighting bosses or farming resources. Unless developer wanted area hazard, but presume not intention.

While the pestilence is active in Lowland Meadows, you take Plague damage in some areas underneath the Lumbermill, in the drained area.

There is a little lake between the Lumbermill and the cave to the north that deals Plague damage before you drain it. I believe the lake still exists in the Pestilence zone, without being rendered.

Platform/Input: PC — Xbox controller

Location: Lowland Meadows — boss arena (poisoned pool area)

Summary:
After performing a Pestilence cleanse in Lowland Meadows, the boss arena’s poisoned pool area can still damage the player, even if the pool has already been drained during the story (visually appears drained).

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Trigger pestilence in Lowland Meadows

  2. Kill the boss in the pool arena

  3. Stay in arena to see the damage on the player

Expected:
If the pool has been drained (and the zone is cleansed), that area should not apply poison/environmental damage.

Actual:
The player still takes damage ticks when standing in the drained pool area, as if the hazard volume is still active.

Frequency: 100%

Attachment: Screenshot showing the location/state where damage is occurring after cleanse.

for me the dmg isnt there anymore, but before the co-op patch i know that there was basically like little pools in there where u still got the dmg. and it made total sense to me, cause its obv a sandy muddy place and when u drain it, you will never drain everything, theres always remains, and those were the ones damaging you. made perfect sense to me.

but it wasnt everywhere in there, just close to the little watery pools there that remained.

tbh i actually thought it was a bug that i did not get any dmg when i went in there after the patch

I fail to understand if this is a considered solved issue or not.

ATM fighting the plagued boss in that arena is impossible, the DoT damage is so high and so vast the only way to kill the boss is to bait him out of the area.

If it’s still present it’s not solved

My friends and I were finishing up a plague outbreak in the Lumber Mill basin and found we were inexplicably taking plague damage.

After we defeated the boss, losing our rewards to this damage, we tested the area, and realized that the puddles of water left over from draining the area dealt damage.

This was very difficult to see, and frustrating to work hard to summon the boss, then just lose all the loot to imperceptable damage.

I appreciate the attention to detail, and stage hazards are fine, but would it be possible to make them more obvious so players can know to avoid them? A violet tinge or some vfx attached to the aoes would go a long way to communicating what the player should watch out for.

Would love to hear if this is a visual bug or something, or if other players have had similar issues.

Not sure if this is the arena design but fight is not possible for some of the builds given the stacking plague damage this arena can give:

I have to lure the boss outside of the arena to prevent the DOT, that changes the area from being wide open to fighting the boss in a tight canal and less idea camera angle (boss in foreground).

Sorry about that! Just know it’s been seen by Moon

But admittedly they have not brought out any improvements on this for a long time now, sadly.

Steam latest patch applied.

Single Player and co-op 2-player.

Location: Lowland Meadows, Pestilence outbreak

Issue: Invisible ground hazards/AOEs

Description: I have already made a post about the insanely long persistence of enemy AOEs in the current game version, but in pestilence, these are now also invisible? Or there are just random pockets of death on the ground?

There were several instances (hidden cave above the camp fire above hunters vale whisper or in the pestilence creature fight at the bottom of the lumber mill, for example), where random parts of the ground would suddenly start damaging out characters - even without enemies around. The ground did not look different, it had no markings, no AOE, it just drained your health, which is not really fun. It would also randomly switch locations.

Reproducible: somewhat, but the death pockets seemed to shift from place to place, sometimes on death, sometimes not - see video. Not tested after game restart yet, but I have to work, so maybe later.

Also, I would have posted this in Bugs, but I really don’t have the time right now to get all the required files to be able to post and upload them.

It seems there is a bug in the fort near lumber mill in the boss arena zone (the one where you drain the water)

So when I do a pestilence outbreak and beat the boss in that area and get phased out to normal zone after, certain areas of the arena (dig spots and the lower entrance) I will get a ticking damage that is reminiscent of when the area is not drained out of the toxic water.

This has happened twice for me so far, figured I should report.
