I was thinking about a minion class for the game. Something difrent then the same old necromancer we always get.
Here’s a proposed class design for “No Rest for the Wicked” inspired by the Beastmaster concept, along with an explanation of why it would be a good fit for the game.
Class Name: Beastkeeper
Class Description:
The Beastkeeper is an expert in the ancient art of creature communion and control, able to tame, summon, and command the beasts of Vana’diel. Through rigorous training and deep understanding of monster behavior, Beastkeepers can charm wild beasts to fight alongside them or summon powerful Familiars to aid in battle. They are masterful solo operators and versatile team players, capable of controlling multiple creatures simultaneously and turning the tide of battle with their beastly allies.
Core Abilities:
Charm Beast: Temporarily tame a wild beast to fight for you. The duration and success depend on the beast’s level and your Charm skill.
Call Beast: Summon a Familiar beast with varying levels, which can fight alongside you or be used to obtain rare items.
Familiar Control: Command your summoned Familiars to attack, defend, or perform special actions.
Beast Coordination: Boost your beast’s attack power, defense, or utility through skills that enhance their performance.
Beast Bond: Increase the duration and effectiveness of your Charm and Summon abilities as you build rapport with specific creatures.
Wild Instincts (Passive): Gain bonuses when fighting alongside or controlling multiple creatures, such as increased damage or decreased aggro.
Unique Mechanics:
Pet Level Sync: When controlling or summoning beasts, their levels are adjusted based on your own level and equipment, preventing experience penalties and balancing gameplay.
Solo Mastery: Exceptional at soloing monsters by chaining Charm and Summon abilities, making the Beastkeeper ideal for solo content.
Multi-Beast Control: Capable of commanding multiple pets or Familiars simultaneously, each with their own tactical roles.
Experience and Growth: Gain experience points for yourself and your Familiars, with mechanics similar to the Beastmaster — pets only gain exp when alive and not over-leveled.
Why it would be a good new class for “No Rest for the Wicked”:
Versatility & Solo Play: Like the Beastmaster, the Beastkeeper would excel at solo content, making it appealing for players who enjoy self-sufficient gameplay.
Strategic Depth: Controlling multiple beasts and choosing which to summon or charm adds layers of strategy, encouraging thoughtful play.
Thematic Fit: The class aligns well with the game’s adventurous tone, emphasizing exploration, mastery over monsters, and tactical combat.
Variety in Combat: Summoning a diverse array of Familiars and beasts provides varied combat options, keeping gameplay fresh.
Community & Cooperative Play: The ability to control multiple creatures opens opportunities for unique team compositions and cooperative strategies.
Balance & Fairness: Mechanics like Pet Level Sync ensure the class remains balanced across different levels and content.
