Main menu options/text not loading after startup

Hello,

I encountered an issue when launching the game.

The Moon Studios logo appears normally, but when the game reaches the main menu, the menu elements do not load.

The background animation is still running, so the game is not completely frozen, but the menu buttons and text are missing. I cannot see or interact with options like Continue, Settings, or Exit. Clicking anywhere on the screen does nothing.

I restarted the game several times, but the issue remained. I had to close the game manually through Steam.

I have uploaded the following files to Google Drive for investigation:

- DataStore.zip

- Player.log

- Player-prev.log

Thank you.

Hm not seen this before..

Any mods?

Were you fiddling with something that might have caused this?

Does a reinstall correct this?

Silas

Thanks for the reply.

No, I am not using any mods, and I haven’t modified any game files or settings that could have caused this issue.

This has actually happened several times before. Usually, when the game reached the main menu, the menu elements were missing at first, but if I waited around 20–30 seconds, the menu would eventually load normally. However, this time I waited for several minutes and the menu still did not appear.

I haven’t reinstalled the game yet because I wanted to provide the logs first in case they help identify the cause.

The Moon Studios logo appears normally, and the background animation on the main menu continues to run, but all menu text and buttons are missing and I cannot interact with anything.

Hopefully the Player.log and DataStore files can help with the investigation.

I’ll be interested in hearing if you keep experiencing this issue, please let us know!

My first guess would be your system specs, or your pc was doing other tasks as while during your game sessions. I had something similar happen to me in Remnant 2 (I have also just 6gb vram and 6 cores).

Thanks for the update.

As I mentioned before, this issue has happened several times in the past, but not to this extent. Previously, the main menu elements were missing for a few seconds and then loaded normally.

I’m not convinced that it is caused by my hardware. In the screenshot I took, VRAM usage was under 2 GB, CPU usage was around 9%, and the frame time was completely stable. The background animations were playing normally, and I had a constant 60 FPS with no stuttering or freezing.

I also make sure there are no background processes before launching the game. I manually close everything, including the NVIDIA App and Razer applications.

One thing I’m wondering about is my internet connection. I have a relatively weak connection, and sometimes the game launches in offline mode and does not reconnect unless I completely restart Steam and launch the game again.

Do you think the main menu issue could be related to the game checking online/offline status or waiting for a network-related process before loading the menu UI?

If the issue happens again, I’ll let you know and provide new logs.

Hm I dont think it should be related to online issues, since our characters and local (single-player) realms are saved locally on our pc, but your thoughts on this are invaluable, much appreciated those added insights amir.

Another interesting tidbit:

Levan said he had the same exact issue.

That’s actually a useful clue. I tested it, and there is a clear difference.

When I use a VPN, the game works normally (except for relatively high and unstable ping). Without a VPN, the servers are visible, but I cannot connect to any of them, and every server shows a constant 800 ms ping.

I’m not sure whether this is directly related to the main menu issue, but the behavior is consistently different depending on whether I’m using a VPN or not.

If the menu problem happens again, I’ll test it both with and without a VPN and compare the results.

If you launch the game in online mode, only the background without buttons is visible on the main menu screen. If I enable offline mode in Steam, the game works properly.

What should I do about this?

I’ve tried all the options I found online.

Hi Deni, can you look through this topic and start troubleshooting with a VPN first?

This might be related to your connection.

Also please tell us from which country you are trying to play  .

Silas

I live in Russia, and the game doesn’t work even with a VPN.

Would you be able to try with a second VPN? In the past, even some vpn’s were hamstrung.

double check your firewall settings and look for P2P server connections (peer-to-peer). you are most likely blocking yourself from playing
