Lost Progression in Sacrament before the Rookery

Firs time playing this game (3.5 hrs logged), when I entered Sacra I talked to as many NPC’s as I could as I progressed the story (rookery path). After going through the rookery path (did the cutscene) I explored as much as I could before I experienced the collision bug where I fell through the map (4th time I experienced it). I explored some more before I restarted my game and I’m back at the Orban Glades whisper before I enter Sacra meaning I lost what to me is roughly 1.5 hrs of playtime. Also, I lost my map progression - no marks for whispers, bonfires, or a colored map of explored areas.

Lost progression has been reported on the forum before but from what I could tell (and told by mods in the discord) it has not been reported for quite some time.

May i ask where this collision was that sent you through the map?

We will investigate these issues.

The first 3 times I fell through the map at the wooden bridge between the NPC’s with the presumably dead deer and I fell through the map in the cemetery.

Hi, I bought the game 2 weeks ago and I really love the art style, voice acting and facial expressions npc have in the cutscens. I feel much love was put into this game by true professionals . Thank you and waiting for every new content.

I came to this topic because I experience the same progress loss with my first playthrough. After deal with the first Boss I return to the Orban Glades because I feel that I miss some paths and ways in this brilliant level design. I died several times before I came to town. After the initial cutscene I decide to talk to every NPC in the town because they have much to say and tells the story. So I think I miss only the few on them when I finally find rookery.

After the cutscene with the inquisition arrives the apprentice told me that the lodge is ready and next morning I awake in the same room. It was my first run so I didn’t realise that something went wrong and continue to explore. I went to the cemetery and saw a doorway without a door but with a guard near it. Walking in the doorway result me falling off the map and die. I respawn in the town whisper and run to the main gate where I fell off the bridge and die again.

At this point I decide to reload and after that I found myself standing on the Boss arena before the bridge and all progress was lost. The mayor greets me again in the cutscene and I was forced to explore tho town again. But this time I run stright to the rookery and after cutscene with the inquisition I found myself in the lodging room. As far as I understand this was how it was planned so I run to the main bridge to check and I am not fall through it. So I continued playing.

Thanks for the report! Can you maybe share your log files as well (see here: How to Properly Report Bugs! )

These files help investigate the issue. You can upload them to any free file sharing site like Google drive or wetransfer etc. and share the link to the files here. Make sure that the link permissions are set to allow opening/downloading of the files.

thanks in andvance

Cheers,

I have experienced this as well.

I’m not sure what the trigger is but here are my findings;

If you do not haste to the Watcher, at some point the game will not allow you to go to sleep in the Rookery. If you open the door this will happen:

(this is the upper entrance to the War room, but the same thing happens in the Rookery)

I experienced 2 times loss. First I died to a clipping issue in Sacrament I’m reporting elsewhere, and the game forgot my map discovery and loot progress, though npc conversations where kept at where I left them.

Second time was when I talked to all npc’s, then went to the Watcher and after the whole cutscene with the Madrigal’s introduction, I interacted with the door as you see in the video, and it set me immediately outside of it again. I had to relog to main menu, and redo all discovery from my entrance in Sacrament (don’t pity me I was trying to trigger this bug).

The third time I went straight to the Watcher, skipped the cutscene and I was now succesfully transfered to the bed in the lodgings upon interaction with the Rookery door.

Similar thing happened to me but in the Rookery tower. Tried to open the door in there and wasn’t allowed inside and appeared right back outside the door. Progression in Sanctuary was lost and eventually started falling through the world.

It’s Sacrament in this game

Go from where you spawn to the Rookery immediately, afterwards there should be no danger of this happening anymore!

Oh sorry, Just seeing this. I’ll give it a try again but have done that several times already and nothing changed. I’ll give it another go though in case something was fixed since then. Thanks! Haha, couldn’t remember the name of the town, ha. My bad.

Ok, tried it again and still didn’t work. I posted the entirety of the issues I’ve been having in another comments section already so probably won’t add all of that here as well unless you want me to.

This is blocking the progress completely

Same thing happening to me. I had also just opened up the fast travel at the Sanctuary whisper and upon reloading save, I can’t fast travel anywhere and am now falling through the environment and dying.

Was it exactly like on the picture for you? So the Watcher himself (an old man in wheelchair) was not present and the door was closed and could not be interacted with?

What happens if you join the Realm again via “continue from last whisper” option? (you can see this option in the Realms tab, shift + space if you play with keyboard).

I had some cutscene take place in the Rookery initially and that’s when I tried to open the side door in the picture above and it looks like I went in the door since the screen went black like it was loading then I just appeared back outside the door and it didn’t work so now ever after that it looks like the picture above without anyone in there (the old man) except now when I try the side door, it doesn’t even give me an option to open it although apparently I can sidle against it still . Tried it many times. Tried reloading and also doing the “continue from last whisper” Realm option but nothing helps.

It seemed to break the game in some respects since after that I decided to go back to the beach where we started to see if that helped move anything along and I ended up falling through the world and dying due to swimming so long I ran out of stamina, ha.

I was checking the journal and tasks were up to date until this point but once that happened, I lost some lines of task progress I’d already completed and it reverted back to the exclamation mark being at the drawbridge at the entrance to the town saying that I could now go into town and is just stuck there. I can’t progress the game anymore because of it. I could start over with my same character and items it seems, if I create another world instance but replaying areas until I get a game breaking bug doesn’t seem like a great solution either.

Also, I had just unlocked fast travel via the Whisper in Sacrament and it opened up a little map of places to transport to the first time but every time after that the screen just flashes and no fast travel map opens up.

Could you provide us with your files please?

Follow these instructions how to get them! How to Properly Report Bugs!

To put you at ease, I would say this is kinda a rare bug.

If you decide to replay, here is my advice: from the moment you kill Warrick, go straight to the Rookery and initiate the cutscene. Skipping or not skipping shouldn’t be a problem, and then you will succesfully be able to use the door.

Right now the thing that seems connect these reports is players who have taken their time to explore Sacrament before entering the Rookery.

Hope to hear from you!

Silas

Ah Fignuts I only have now seen your other comment. Disregard my tip for going straight to the Rookery.

You could not get through the Rookery once?

This is interesting, and you seem to have stumbled upon something differently then the other topic.

Could you add any info you think is important? Is there something you are doing that you think triggers this?

Silas

Ok, new update! I restarted the game in a new instance/world with my same leveled up character and items I’d gained from my original broken world instance. This time I beat the monster outside Sacrament and went straight to the Rookery instead of mucking about in the town trying to further other quests and talking to all the folk and I was able to see the wheelchair dude cutscene again and for the first time I was transported downstairs to the bedroom area ( that didn’t happen in my original broken world instance). It looks like I’m good to go now at least using the new world instance.

I have to assume something got busted with me talking to other folks, further other quests, and checking out the whisper in town now that the fast travel was activated. The wheel chair guy and his assistant now always appear in the top of the tower too when in my other broken instance they disappeared after their cutscene and I was left at the top of the tower alone instead of being transported to the bedroom in the bottom of the tower. If you’re still curious though about getting my files from my original world instance just let me know again and I’ll try to add them (I do have Google Drive but am a newbie at sharing such things, ha) and even some clips I grabbed if that’s helpful but it looks like I’ll be all good for now at least unless some other tomfoolery happens later on, ha. I do love the game and aesthetics so excited to play more.

Thanks for your help either way though! Much appreciated.

We would really like these files nonetheless

Here is how you can set that up:

  1. Create a folder in your Google Drive, name it for example “NRFTW - bug files”
  2. Put your Datastore, player.log and player-prev.log in there (you can find instructions here: How to Properly Report Bugs! )
  3. right click the folder → share → share (again) → set Restricted to Anyone with the link and permission on Viewer
  4. Use the share link by right clicking the folder again and post it here!

If you would do this for us, I appreciate it!

I hope the game is everything you’re looking for hehe.
