Lack of exp/equipment farming

dude, use deepl or google translator  we are not your nanny translating stuff for you. forum language is english. Sorry for the hard words, but i don’t make you read my german either

That being said. I do this once, but from now on you translate it yourself

Google Translate:

I would like to mainly bring to light two issues that I am highlighting in the game during this early access.

  • I believe that after the addition of the new version of the crucible, there is a big problem in finding new weapons and armor. In fact, previously it was enough to get a dozen old crucibles to have a nice loot of tier 3 weapons and armor to enchant or infuse to create your build. Now, however, you have to rely on the loot present in the story areas, therefore mostly sewers and unnamed passages, with the difference that the drop is much lower and therefore there is greater difficulty in finding new equipment. I believe we need to find a solution to allow faster and more satisfying loot. Maybe including a crucible mode for loot.
  • There is little explanation in relation to the runes, specifically I believe that the description of the effect of each rune should be implemented and above all insert a whole series of parametric data, such as damage for example and scaling following weapon improvement at the blacksmith.
  • It would be nice to find a solution to be able to move perks from one weapon to another at will, perhaps using a resource that is not easy to find in game. This way, once I enchant a weapon or armor, I can keep the one I like and replace only the perks that aren’t good (Obviously for purple weapons/armor you can’t remove the negative one so as to keep it)

(Translation End)

All very good points in my opinion, the devs should take a look at that

After reading your comment it came to mind that maybe the reason people are complaining about the no loot thing is that the main world outside the crucible is small for now, so the devs put the crucible in a state that will be the same when the game releases, bigger world, more loot, and more xp, so no problem there, just an issue in EA.

I did a new run with a fresh character today that I had been wanting to do and just gave up. I wanted specific gear and obtaining that is just too much work. I spent several hours farming, on main, for the items I wanted and found nothing. The time sink for trying a new build currently is not worth it to me.

I don’t even wanna imagine how long it will then take to enchant them with solid enchants.

These are my biggest wants currently:

  • Less white gear scarcity and more recipes to craft all armor/weapons/rings
  • Less RNG in enchanting and more customization

I think developers wanted to give purpuse to all areas of the game, the open world as a place to farm and Crucible as a place for endgame activities. This makes sense.

However, the game is barebones right now, so that the open world part is very small and limited. Exp and gear farming is almost unbearable right now. Especially since there is no option to target farm equipment.

This may have been a long term change, however in the moment the game is less than what it used to be.

Maybe a good idea would be to also put chests next to the seneschal. 3 big ones or so, but i doubt it would compensate enough…

The jump to limnus, would then also be cheesed resulting in a weird crucible limnus rush and repeat…

Hello from Spain!
I wanted to ask a question about the new update. Will you be putting enemy-dropped loot and chests back into the crucible? Since you removed it I have no money nor can I create new classes or look for new pieces of armor because I spend most of my time in the crucible and I would like to know if you will implement it again
All the best!

Based on an interview, they are trying to make it so that you don’t do the Crucible in place of open world. They want it so that you do open world for loot and crafting material, crucible for enhancing gear. Long term they want the town to provide passive material/income but that’s not implemented yet.

They’re currently debating what should be the next update;

• Co-op
• Town upgrades
• More to do in open world

Yes that makes sense, this way people would have to explore the new areas to get the better gear instead of just going crucible, not to mention that when the game releases the level cap might be like Dark Souls, i wanna overlevel the crap out of this and stomp the Echo Knight hehehe, annoying little bugger kicked my ass too many times.
Although those other statues inside the crucible will have way harder bosses at the end, thats my guess at least.

Maybe, Seneschal himself could sell equipment as one of the expandable options to his services?

There are many ways to sprincle at least some gear within the Crucible, like some random chest or a mini-boss floor with a chest.

Furthermore, one of the main problems with crucible right now is that it is all or nothing: if you do not beat Echo Knight you get nothing from the run.

Well if Thomas really is trying to make it more roguelite, they need to add challenge rooms/mechanics inside the Crucible that could maybe reward us with gear/money/or whatever. Every single roguelite has a thing where it’s like “go left, normal path, go right cursed path with 3x harder enemies”.

You get the green crystals though, they stay with you for the next run so you can deliver them to the plate face dude, thats okay i guess, at least that.

Oh i justwatch some info on youtube about the other statues inside the crucible, they will be different gameplays, first we got is roguelike, there will be boss rush, survival and i dont know what else.

So huge fan of the game - Huge fan of the recent cosmetic map changes to the crucible. But it feels completely ruined. The reason you used to run Crucible is because enemies had a higher copper and silver drop rate and would drop armor and weapons at a higher rate it was the end game without there being an end game until theres more endgame. But there is no loot i feel like im playing it to waste my time rather than earn something rewarding. Dont get me wrong ive done the (old crucible) with what feels like 75+ errant knight completions ( gots 3-4 storage chests full of legendary weapons from him) And the old crucible reward system was SO much better than this new one.
Hopefully the game doesnt go further in this direction when it comes to loot if im playing just to play im gonna get bored and then theres no more point to me spending the time.

Anyone else feel this way after the most recent Crucible update?

I think the exalted gear is better than the loot we got inside the previous version, max affixes is way more powerful than just some random drop that you will have to risk enchanting. Not to mention the devs put those drops on the world now, im getting way more gear outside the crucible.

the crucible is simply badly designed in its current format and needs a full rework

it is entirely disconected from the rest of the game in both function and reward

no matter what its intended purpose, but it dedicated endgame, “optional extra”, content to progress alongside the main game, or an entire alternate way of playing, it is not a well designed version of it

they need to decide what the crucible is supposed to be, and then actually make it work for that, at the moment it doesnt work well for anything

Thats on purpose, the devs dont want you to go crucible only and max level in there without seeing the rest of the game world, hence no xp farming.

What do you mean no reward, the exalted itens are very powerful, if you kill the EK you get a legendary item, you arent seeing this in a full released game perspective, after the full game is released you will kill the EK way more easily, you will overlevel the crap out of him and stomp him into oblivion.

It’s on purpose that the crucible is badly designed?

From what I understood the current design is with future updates and content in mind. Therefore, it might not mix in well with the current state of the game but it will with future updates. Reworking it again to fit the current state is a waste of effort.

The other statues in there will be different game types, the first is roguelike, the other is boss rush, dev said thats the intention at least, so we will have more crucible with the final release, then again its optional, you just get a little more info on the Cerim, hopefully even more with the other statues.

reactivating/shoehorning some EXP reward and enabling more gear drops within the crucible at present state should be something relatively very easy and quick to do, that could also easily be undone later

i agree with the idea of it feeling “disconnected” in the sense that : it seems the negative effects caused by no gear/money/exp drops were more towards “outright poorly thought out” than “deliberate”, after all we do have a track record of content where the specific details of how it interacts with the rest of the game is somewhat of an afterthought kept to be better handled later. The lack of a decent way to get nice tier 3 weapons, money and exp at a decent pace just feels like its doing a temporary harm for no much real benefit

I always agree with the general notion of ‘building’ for the future rather than the short term, but something i noticed in most successful EAs ive played, is that they apply temporary changes to the additions to undone later, if its close to being pretty much an on/off switch.

i would also like to mention theyre already deliberately leaving many mechanics and elements of the game/crucible update as placeholders/temporary forms in the first place.
Kind of like how they mentioned the current form of exalting is a completely temporary thing, that was made totally shallow for the time being, to be totally changed into something actually interesting later.

If we can get away with that in this game, then surely theres room for a temporary concession when it comes to gear/money/exp, in order to prevent harming the experience of new people with fresh saves for the next couple months where the crucible upd8 defines the entire state of the game.
