Infusing Weapons with gems and utility runes

Hi all,

so I have equipped a weapon which I infused with a gem to get infusion with pestilence. I also came across a utility rune which does the same according to the tooltip. My question is, do the effects of these add their effect to one another or am I getting the effect of just one of these, and the respective other one is of no use?

Hey Tirania,

2 infusions won’t strengthen eachother! So you are correct in your last sentence, one of the infusions is not giving you value

Another question - the facet states it lowers damage. Is that true for other sources as well like enchantment or gem?

The gem, echo, and, utility rune are a 100% conversion with no damage loss.[1] The facet reduces base damage (multiplicatively, by 10%). The fooscale oil increases damage (multiplicatively, by 20%). The facet’s damage decrease remains even if infusions are changed, so the facet is generally the worst (heavy/mundane are ‘optimal’).

If you have multiple effects, a weapon rune has the highest priority, then temporary effects, then permanent ones. Temporary effects override one another (an oil overrides an enchantment, for instance). I sometimes use this on ice double-daggers to shatter with Dual Breaker.

  1. Tested with regular and voltaic Cronus against the target dummy, and with regular and frigid Rogue Messer against the same. If reproducing the result, note that the dummy takes around 10% less lightning and frost damage than physical to begin with. ↩︎
