Me, I’m the gormless moron. I’m trying to do Crucible and Pestilence on Normal Mode and I just can’t seem to get it done; heavy melee builds, light melee builds, blocking builds, Thorns, good Echos, bad Echos, it doesn’t seem to matter, I seem to always die. I suck at avoiding damage and Parrying.
Yes, it’s a skill issue, which is why I’m asking for build suggestions that require very little skill. No skill at all, ideally. In fact, if there’s a build that requires less than no skill, that would be even better.
Micro-rant: I made it through the campaign just fine on Normal Mode, and without anything like a dedicated build, too, I don’t know why I’m having so much difficulty with Crucible and Pestilence. I can clear them pretty easily on Easy Mode, to the point where they’re boring, but Normal mode is kicking my ass like it’s an Olympic sport.
So yeah, what sort of build would you recommend for a worm or a sun fish?
Has pretty good sustain without needing to do anything weird with your max health. Works pretty well with ring of determination if you really want no brains. Just have to remember to apply bleed before pew pewing.
Barriers for days. Block can do all the work for you.
In case you would prefer not to play the game, there’s always cheese.
Fromage défensif
A high-health build with durability-enchanted armour and enchantment-power health regeneration. Requires some gems and embers.
A durable plate chestpiece with added durability, damage resistance per durability, enchantment power and exalts can add to more than 100% damage resistance, so you more or less just have to avoid falling, but that may require too much grinding or luck. Fortunately, even long before this point, a decent enchanted mesh chestpiece and some health regen make you nearly indestructible.
One-shots
This idea replaces skill with preparation!
Carry some or all of the following: sparkscale oil, large vials of defence, the Damage Surge spell, maybe vegetable cake, relatively upgraded heavy armour with focus-regen gems, a weapon with Stormpiercer. Have maybe 300 max focus and split the rest evenly between health and your damage attribute(s).
On Cyvion you will have to walk away between phases and press the rune twice, maybe light attack once or twice tops, but that should be the pinnacle of difficulty.
If you find it boring on Easy mode, you will find it boring on Normal mode once you have a proper build. It’s very easy to get one-shot builds online with enough essence embers. If you don’t have enough of those, fish every spot you can (you can carry 3 fishing poles so when one breaks you can keep on going). Also buy from vendor, especially useful if you have multiple realms + do bounties that have essence embers.
Just be careful what you wish for. I don’t fully max my builds because yeah, the game becomes boring when you do too much damage.
