When playing in hard mode ( not permadeath) i have notcied several times that when i climb something, a ladder, a vine or something else, and there are mobs above me, they come to the ladder and wait. as soon as a hit can register, i can wailed on.
i have checked a few times, they do not see me, they just know i am coming , so they wait
