DualSense controller

I watched a lot of demonstrations using XBOX controller. Does the EA stage support PS5 DualSense controller? Also, are there any plans for cross-platform archiving in the future?

Man, according to informations console release of this game will be at 1.0 so in a year or so, many things can happen till then.

The steam page for the game says that PS controllers are supported, alongside Xbox controllers. So safe to assume PS5 should work during early access.

I’d hazard a guess that both Xbox & PS5 controllers will be compatible during Early Access. I’d be surprised if heptic feedback is implemented right away though, as not many games on PC make full use of it. The combat in this game looks like it’d feel awesome with it though! Fingers crossed it’ll come in the future. :crossed_fingers:

No offence to the console players but I’m old school (well, old) and always hope a game is optimised to work well with kb and mouse. Happy for you if it works well on controller too, but many conversions from console don’t seem to care if my play style works well. It sounds selfish but I just can’t use a controller to save my life! Guess I shouldn’t have bought that Steam Deck :joy:

I asked a similar question to this in Discord and Mikey replied with this.

I always have button prompt issues with my DS4 while gaming in windows so I had to ask.

Seems at least they are aware of the compatibility being lackluster in modern games.

I always thought controller is a inferior way of playing. When i have playstation back in the day i always liked more m&k, dont understand the focus on gamepads i understand console players only have gamepads to choose from but when the game is released on PC it should have m&k support on same level quality as gamepad.

Partial controller support is claimed, even the developers recommend playing this game with a controller. Dualsense and Dualchock are listed in the tags (steam db).
Partial support may vary, there may be no support in the menu or in big picture mode. Let’s not think about the bad stuff. By the way, due to circumstances I have fairly simple controllers and they are usually compatible with both the cloud service and games that support official xbox gamepads at all.

I will also say that it should be so that when using keyboard+mouse you can reassign any buttons, including side buttons, and no closed binds. Because there are games that either partially change not all options, or I can’t put one of the side mouse buttons for map view for example.
Hopefully the game will end up being generally satisfying for everyone, with both keyboard and full controller support, from starting up, being in menus, and the whole combat palette.

My deck has been relegated to CYOA’s and jrpgs, lol. For everything else, I play for about 6 minutes on the deck, and then get frustrated with UI and want to be able to click it, dammit.

I’m playing on my dualsense PS5 controller. Works with no issues.
However, the option “steam input support” inside steam has to be turned on for it to work - meaning there is no integral support for the dualsense controller inside the game itself, so steam covers that and converts your controller inputs to the native xbox controller setup/system, meaning that the ui icons while inside the game show up as if you’re using an xbox controller.

I’m interested in seeing if they’ll properly utilize some of the DualSense 5’s unique features. The haptic feedback, sound effects, and ability to scroll menus such as maps with the touch pad will be welcomed additions, in my mind.

More than anything, however, I hope they bother to include proper PS5 icons for PC users utilizing a DualSense 5 controller. Nothing screams lazy like developers who don’t account for this.

  1. quit game
  2. plug in controller/connect via bluetooth (wired connection is advised for best experience)
  3. go to steam library, right click on the game, go to manage, select controller setting, and set the setting to ‘steam input’
  4. Start game
  5. Thank me later

You can always plug the controller while still in-game, however, expect to experience audio loss on certain queues, still a bug that needs fixing

Any time! It works for me, I don’t see why it shouldn’t, be sure to report back if it doesn’t.
