As you can see in my screenshot, I’m completely stuck in a corner because an enemy is pushing me into it. There was no way to dodge roll out of the situation, nor any opportunity to attack the enemy before I died. This needs to be fixed in a way that prevents large enemies from pinning the player in a corner and making the situation impossible in every way. I also couldn’t break the table to escape.
There’s a clear difference between being punished for bad positioning and being put into a no-counterplay situation. In this case, once you’re corner trapped by a large enemy, there is literally no valid action available: no dodge roll, no attack window, no environmental interaction (the table couldn’t be broken), and no way to recover through skill or decision-making. At that point, the outcome is already decided even with a full health bar.
That’s not a “lesson learned” moment — that’s the game removing player agency.
My only hope when that happens because of my bad placement (my, because the enemy did not push me into the corner, they just trapped me there) is that I have enough focus to drop a nuke
I like having a rune skill available when I’m crowded. Drop it and I get breathing room. That is my get out of jail card.
Personally I’m ok with it. Makes me rethink my placement …and yes, not everyone will agree.
That’s the nice thing about opinions, no-one is ever wrong
I get where you’re coming from, and I agree that this isn’t a game-breaking issue.
That said, I still think there should be a better outcome than pure corner trapping, without making the game easier. Right now, once you’re trapped like that, the result is already decided unless you happen to have a very specific cooldown or resource available. That shifts the situation from skill-based play to resource check, which isn’t ideal.
I’m not asking for a free escape. Small design tweaks could keep the difficulty intact while removing the no-counterplay scenario.
And when an enemy is blasting me with combos into a corner, I have no chance escaping or breaking out
in all sincerity… this has happend maybe 2 times at worst in all the time we played togheter as a party in the exp-branch (We were mostly 3, often 4 and we played… A LOT).
I see it more of a skill issue than a thing to be fixed.
In a “war situation” it is not like the enemy is going to stop and say “oh sorry, i’ll let you escape my death attack because you got bad positioning so you can still live and attack me”.
You know you can be pushed down something, or in a corner. Don’t give the enemy the chance to do that. Improve your movements and tactical positioning.
This isn’t about the enemy saying, “oh sorry, i’ll let you escape my death attack because you got bad positioning so you can still live and attack me.” Why shouldn’t I be allowed to smash the table to escape?
Being pushed down or off something is a different matter altogether, and I actually think it’s a good challenge to try to avoid being pushed off an edge.
