Button modifier for rune attacks on M&KB

I like the implementation of special attacks, it’s just like Dragon’s Dogma and I feel like it’s the ideal way to do modular RPG combat. And the control scheme is just cheff’s kiss perfect. Holding down a modifier and then pressing a face button is simply brilliant. You don’t even have to think about pressing the button, it just comes as naturally as breathing… so, why, in the name of all common sense, did they make the keyboard and mouse scheme use individual number keys for rune attacks?

it’s so incredibly unintuitive and awkward. If I want to use them I have to let go of WASD and then reposition my hand back after I’m done. That’s a great way to get killed or waste an opening. It’s terrible. Not to mention I now have to remember even more button combinations in the heat of the moment. Just give me the option to use my side mouse buttons as a modifier, then I only have to press LMB, RMB, Q, and E, buttons I already use normally. It makes so much more sense.

And don’t even get me started on the alternative scheme in which you pick the rune with 1234 and then execute with the rune button. It’s just… ugh. No offense, but It’s like you invented the wheel and then polished it into a square. I’m begging you here.
