Building and runing the 2H Best Buddy Forever in TheBreach. Or: "Anyone seen the Gilded Twibill?"

To make this real short, it’s fun to build the weapons, and currently I’m looking to draft a nice 2H weapon to go alongside a heavy platewearing battleslug. Sometimes you just need a change. Having dragged the same corpse smeared blade around until lvl 30 this is.

Now with TheBreach having changed a few things I just wanted to write down what I saw in TheBreach and get some of your experiences.

  • Fire Throw is coming from One-Handed but could be applied to 2H pre-Breach as well (if I am not mistaken). Now it’s a dedicated 1H rune since TheBreach.
  • Freiheit and Broken Fang are still in and can be crafted. They now require Winged Brood items and thus were moved to endgame content with TheBreach.
  • Finley just had the Serrated Cutter. So that’s still in, nice. 40 silver is a bit on the high side though.
  • I have not yet seen Huro’s Great Axe and also the Gilded Twibill didn’t show up anywhere (yet). Have those dropped for someone? Do we still have Fire Whirlwind and Lightning Assault in TheBreach content?
  • With subjectively drops being more selective, it takes a bit more time and thus requires more care to really get a nice combination of weapon, enchants and runes. I do not object. But Devs, please don’t make the droprate more selective. Hardcore grinding like for Diablo Lilith, PoE or WoW style would be a big nuisance. The way you’ve build it now is really nice. It’s simple, not much to get wrong, but with a little closer look a cool lovely way to tune the details and damage, put some lovely animations in and also make you adapt new playstyles.
  • Mixing Runes between (2H) weapon types is fun. Please keep that in!
  • Having spent around 40 embers on the same plagued swotd, the enchants seem to be only a subset of what is totally available (considering what’s on other 2H weapons). The enchants rolling almost aways a “gain xyz on parry / backstab” and “indestructible”. Every 10th ember or so is somewhat different, but only like from a pool of five different ones. Or so it seems.

Above was with build 22555.

New 2H weapons seen in 22625 (new = not in the weapon sheet)

  • Boarskin Reaper, 2H Great Axe, Str. Rune: Relentless Cleave, 100 Focus.
  • Cerim’s Skyrend, 2H Great Axe, Str. Rune: Spiral Crash 65 Focus
  • Harvester’s Dread, 2H Great Axe, Str. Rune: Breaker Thrust, 50 Focus
  • Midnight Shredder, 2H Great Axe, Faith. Rune: Raging Spiral, 100 Focus
  • Mayhem, 2H Great Sword, Str&Faith. Rune: Tremor Slam, 100 Focus
  • Hope Shorn, 2H Scythe, Faith. Rune: Rip and Tear, 100 Focus
  • Sould Thresher, 2H Scythe, Str&Dex. Rune: Frenzied Cleave, 100 Focus

and not to forget:

  • Paddle, 2H Great Club, Str. Rune: Stamina Wellspring, 100 Focus

Possibly rare drops on my instance:

  • Gilded Twibill
    • Diego_Costa said it dropped on his The Breach instance.
    • Have it now too. On the Challenge “Lost Truth”. How fitting  Fyi (no rant): Took the full playthrough to get it.
  • Huro’s Great Axe. Finally dropped from a prisoner. Last one that was missing.

Enchantments come in groups, where you can’t roll e.g. multiple damage enchantments on the same gear. Here’s a list (still a work in progress):

I know the sheet, that’s an impressive piece of work and very informative.

I knew that the grouping exists, but have not yet had paid more attention to it. That’s really awesome to have it in the sheet. How was the grouping derived, manually by analysing the drops and ember outcomes? Did you do that? Kudos to everyone involved.

Is there some more discussion on it to read up on it?

The first question is of course what the leading enchantment is. If the goal would be e.g. on a plagued weapon to switch out “Rune Damage increased by x” in favor for “Damage vs. Large Enemies”, is that as simple trying to ember our the “Rune Damage increased by x” with enough ember attempts?
Are the enchants weapontypeless, could “Rune Damage inc” be rolled for Knife, Staff and 2H equally?

Considering a normal weapon has three enchants, and six groups known, how are the groups combined? Is there always an “A” group on every weapon and which of other groups are present (None, C, D, H, K) is random?

That going to be fun to play around with that grouping insights. Thx for pointing it out again.

Added the 2H weapons above which are probably new in TheBreach, or at least not yet in the google docs weapons sheet.

I have dropped a Gilded Twibil and still the same as before breach

Reallyy a Gilded Twibil with Lightning Assault in The Breach? That’s awesome! There’s hope

Interesting, how rare the drops are. Fine for me - hopefully will drop in a while then here too. It’s kinda nice it if’s rare, as long as it’s still a realistic chance while maintaining reallife as well.

Glad you’re finding it helpful! The sheet is from a YouTuber by the name of Snapziey.

Yes, if you want to swap one damage enchant for another, that’s how you go about it.

And yes, as far as I can tell, all weapons share the same enchantment pool.

Absolutely. Tried it quite a bit now and it’s just described. Very nice to do some targeted tinkering with it.

Very much looks like it indeed. Toyed around with it a lot, looks good.

Also just learned that the charged attack on 2H Axes is on the third attack of the three-attack-combo. In case anyone also wonders. You need to execute the full combo and the third attack can then be charged by holding the attack button.

And finally the Gilded Twibill show up. Yeehaw
