I’ve been playing for a while now, and I love it. The difficulty is harsh at first, but feels fair and incentivizes you as a new player to develop your skill while still not hard walling you.
That said, there is one point that has felt completely out of line with anything else in the game, both on my first playthrough, and now on a new character.
The bounty “A Savage Pair” is one of the first you get, and fighting this pair is so much harder than anything else you encounter at that point, or anywhere else. They have huge reach to the point where you need to use iframes to survive, often attack 4 times in a row, and there are two of them, leading you to have to dodge 8 attacks simultaneously. Even if you manage this, there’s no way to attack back with the stamina loss from dodging.
The fight is not unwinnable, but it took me and my friend probably 10-15 attempts on our co-op playthrough, where everything else in the game up until level 30 or so has taken at maximum 2 or 3. Now when returning to it solo, I’m again wiping multiple times while otherwise breezing through everything with the skills I’ve accumulated.
Obvious skill issue, and I know it’s “optional” content, but it feels strange that a single fight is so out of line with everything else the game has to offer in the early game so I wanted to bring it up.
(Edit: I should say I’m not a rookie when it comes to difficult and punishing games, I play quite a lot of them. So this is not a complaint against difficult content per se, but a balance feedback)
everytime i do that bounty i always try to only pull and kill one guy first and then the other. it rly helps. usually these dudes are in the glades for me and i carefully wait until one of them walks into my screen and notices me and insta run a bit away, usually the other guy wont follow.
i did fight both a lot of times together, got lots of hours in the game by now so i cant avoid it all the time, but when i can i still always try to seperate them, cause yes, those two big guys are kinda annoying to fight when ur not in op state yet.
What makes them overtuned is that enemy burn damage is crazy high. One single hit applies enough burn damage to the point you can eat a mishroom soup and only counter the dot but not heal up the 50%+ hp you lost from a hit.
They are also really tanky for the level range they become available at.
Hard agree, I faced them in Marin Woods the first time and I could barely deal any damage to them despite being more than the recommended level for the region.
Posting on Discord I got annoying ‘git gud’ posts instead of acknowledgement of the issue.
Funny enough that is one of my favorite weekly challenges, heck they are better than some daily challenges… but yea just pull them 1 at a time and they are extremely easy to parry too you can just bait their jump attack as it is the easiest to parry
