It would be smoother if backstab was triggered with the interact button instead of the attack button, to avoid accidental normal attacks.
Never thought of that, it makes a lot of sense!
But it should be possible to trigger it with either of them: the interaction button & the attack button, not just one or the other.
Hit both buttons at the same time?
No only one button i hope no need for 2
“with either of them“ means that one or the other is enough, not that it is necessary to use them together.
And I made this suggestion simply because I’m sure there are people who find it more convenient to use the attack button, even though using the interact button is more precise since you don’t risk performing an attack by mistake.
Furthermore, in the rare case where there are things to interact with (like: drops, resources, levers, etc.) behind the enemy’s back, to avoid interacting with them by mistake instead of performing a backstab, you can still use the attack button.
That’s a fair point, but there’s actually a simpler fix: just make it so you can’t loot or interact with objects while locked onto a monster. That way, the interact button stays precise for backstabs, and there’s no risk of accidentally picking something up instead of attacking.
There are situations where you want to collect items or activate a shortcut and escape.
It seems strange to ask a player who wants to collect loot mid-combat to turn off targeting, especially considering that targeting in this game is automatic, and you can play the game without ever clicking the targeting button.
Furthermore, my solution allows players who prefer things to stay the same to play the same way without compromise.
