After the Experimental build for the Together update, off-hands are in a way better place, but at least between shield & quiver, there’s still some consistency issues.
Are off-hand items meant to be “on use” or an augment?
I think it’s worth leaning into the augment route and (controversially) exploring shield behavior as “auto use if able”
—especially when locked on an enemy or ranged attack is incoming, have your shield up
—this behavior would be overridden by
——running
——rolling
——attacking
———there could be a frame or 2 wind-up penalty to your attack to counteract the more consistent defense buff & incentive not always having a shield equipped
As a shield user, this reflects how people are likely playing anyway, provides consistent expectations for off-hand items, and immediately addresses any “on press”/“on release” parry questions.
