Are resistances hard capped at 80% now?

I’ve noticed my resistances on my stats page never go above 80% even with increases to armor, damage reduction, or resistances. I tried looking this up but found a lot of different information (likely due to changes over time), saw quite a few posts about being able to get 100% and become unkillable but it doesn’t seem like I can achieve that. Is there a cap now? To be clear I think it’s a good thing if there is a cap, am just curious what the current state is :stuck_out_tongue:

There are diminishing returns, which means that the more damage resistance you already have, the less additional damage resistance will increase your total. At some point it scales so harshly that additional damage resistance barely makes a difference.

I thought it might be that too. It seemed to be hard capped though cause even after hitting 80% I tried things like a ring to increase armor by 23% (going from 1000 to 1230) and the consumable that gives 20% damage reduction, I thought even with diminishing returns it would go up a point or two but was still 80 lol. I’ll see if I can try some Crucible damage reduction buffs too to check if it can get any higher out of curiosity :eyes:

Is it safe to assume the posts I’ve seen about immortal builds getting to 100+ resistances are from past iterations of the game?

Yes.

At some point there was a hard-cap of 70%, then it was unintentionally un-capped and after some time the diminishing returns were introduced with Patch 1 of the Together update.
