Why is the fishing progress circle hard to find (UX)

I’m not entirely convinced about the fishing UX after the progress circle was added. When gathering other resources, the character stands right next to the object and the camera barely moves, so the progress circle is easy to locate.

During fishing, however, the bait is thrown and the camera follows it, but once the action finishes, the progress circle appears back near the character. Because perspective scaling is applied, the circle can appear very small or very large depending on the relative position of the character and the bait. In some environments, the circle’s color also blends with the background, resulting in low contrast.

This makes the circle harder to find. (Fitts’ law, which describes the relationship between target size, distance, and the time required to acquire it.)
