So, after 55 hours on my main character, I have almost perfected it, the crucible is now a cakewalk for me, the knight is no problem (if I am alert and my concentration is normal).
Brothers daggers, fabric armor, auto attacks only (plague ring prevents the use of runes) - I like it.
Next will be my ravings of a madman. Or simply - my thoughts are in disarray.
What’s next? Try different weapons.
I created a new character in the new world, reached the city, went to the old world, drank 10 bottles for 800 experience, got level 12 and… took the coral spear.
26 int and 26 faith, strong stats.
The sad thing is that I didn’t like the way the weapon behaved at all.
I don’t feel that this is a spear, there are almost no piercing blows, a triple uninterrupted attack is easily parried by almost any mob.
We are not talking about a spear, there are people who like this weapon, it’s just not my thing.
The problem is that I spent 32 points in int and faith.
There are 2 more weapons that require similar stats.
And that’s it, it turns out that about 5 hours are wasted, now I won’t do anything with this character and just delete it.
I guess I can make a character level 24 and make all the main characteristics 26, then I can try out most of the weapons. Except for those that require 42, but my eyes will tremble because there are unnecessary characteristics for the current weapon
My thought (even 2)
First, add a training mode. For example, in the moba Paragon online there is a training mode, there are dolls, you can take absolutely any character, give him absolutely any items and level. This will allow you to test different builds, study skills and generally find out what he can do and how he plays.
Second:
There was some semblance of classes in my head.
- Rogue/Ranger - fabric armor, dual daggers, knives and bows.
- Mages - fabric armor, staves
- Assassin fighter - leather, curved swords, katanas, spears and rapiers.
It is interesting to use spears with shields; you will get the appearance of a Spartan warrior. Rapiers are better without shields, give the opportunity to use a knife in the left hand. There will be a musketeer. - Fighter - chain mail, straight swords, hammers, maces (where are the flails, Lebowski?), shield optional or add a hand crossbow for rare slow attacks. We saw in the cutscene that they exist
- Heavy fighter - plate and two-handed weapons.
- Tank - plate, necessarily a shield and a one-handed weapon.
I’m not saying that you need to make classes and limit progress to the chosen class
But the problem arises when we look at the characteristics of weapons of the same type. The same spears - one requires 11 str and 11 dex, the other 2 require 16 dex and 16 faith, another 26 str and 26 dex and that same coral 26 int and 26 faith.
A very strange spread of required characteristics for one type of weapon. In fact, if I want to make a spearman, I need to choose from only two spears (or even just one without options)
At the same time, if I invest in some two characteristics, I greatly limit the possibility of using other weapons.
I’m not saying that respec is needed, but I don’t see anything wrong with it. (although at least at this stage, while EA is going on, it would be possible to implement it if you don’t want to have it in general)
It seems that the requirements for one type of weapon need to be changed.
Two-handed swords require strength, and a little dex.
Whereas two-handed hammers are only strength and high cost stamina.
One-handed straight swords: strength and dexterity 50/50. Curved swords and katanas dex and strength 3 to 1.
Hammers are strength and faith, a staff of int and possibly faith… And so on.
I’m still silent that stats should give more than just an increase in value.
It’s just a shame that I spent about 5 hours in order to understand that it was in vain.
When will the game come out? How many levels will there be? How much will the weapon’s characteristics increase? With each lvl up, it will become more and more painful to invest in development.
I am sure that the developers have thoughts on this matter and this system will change in the future.
But right now, when EA is coming, I want to experiment. But there is no such possibility.
After spending 5+ hours on a character that I would simply delete, the desire to start a new one has greatly diminished.
And on my first character, I already saw everything. It’s a pity that when I started playing the dagger brothers, I played the entire game. I like them, good piercing attacks, just what I need.
I don’t know, maybe I’m tired and need to rest. And after a while return… maybe
Sorry for the confused thoughts and wasted time.
