I always thought of blink as a mage way to get out of trouble. It wasn’t until I started playing around with the midnight blade that I saw just how crazy it can be for offense. A lot of enemies that are difficult to backstab become an instant backstab with the right spacing. Since you can use it to pass through enemies, it’s great for avoiding attacks and continuing an offensive.
Very nice! After my Midnight Blade run, I’ve now added the ‘nothing personnel’ move to my icebreaker run. It’s nicely self-sustaining on the dagger, but I feel that the mobility boost really shines on slower weapons.
Some other observations:
- Blink has seemingly no i-frames
- … messes with tracking during enemy attack chains
- … can be used to reset fall damage
- Midnight Blade has three different backstab animations, while I’ve only seen two on other weapons; maybe because I focused on getting backstabs
It’s also nice as an alternative to heavy rolling.
Thanks for showcasing this build, gave me inspiration to give this a try!
I tried a couple of different things to main midnight blade. At first I focused on lightning damage. This definitely helped, but the recovery from lightning slam is still too long, even with attack speed (rapid gloves), willow cap ring, and overall speed on shock on chest. I ended up going for 100% crit instead, which made it feel viable on its own, but then made anything else I used over powered. Right now I use it as a support weapon for broken forge since that thing slaps, especially with crit. So I am using the midnight blade to gain focus, and then spending it with broken forge runes - storm piercer for damage, fire throw for range (and can be combined with storm piercer to make things go boom), piercing flurry for stagger, and crush for AOE. Using a sharp facet with damage increase based on durability and critical damage increase enchant. Lifesteal in weapons and shields. It slaps. Went focus cap because getting 362 focus off one parry is legit. I have stronger builds, but this one is my favorite since you still have to interact with the combat system to make it sing. Can be a decent healer in coop too cause of the focus gain.
this looks like tons of fun i must try that when i’m in the mood for a backstab build : O
