With Damage resistance on durability % and Barrier making you Immune to Damage is going to do irreparable harm to the game and its Balance. You can only die to fall damage.
We need to Wipe the game
BEFORE YOU OUTRAGE no you cant just Nerf them because they will just turn into legacy gear and still exist in the game which fixes nothing
I would suggest a diminishing return effect and a hardcap for damage resistances.
Regarding barrier - if they change gem effects, it should also take effect for existing gear.
But regardless of any change - as far as i know there will be a final wipe for official release. (and all legacy over powered gear with it will be gone)
Nobody was using barrier until those black pearl builds abusing perma 50% health cheese amps started popping up.
Now everyone is running those half health builds, because who knew gems that boost affixes by 50-60% wouldn’t totally break the game.
Those gems should have never made it past experimental.
% amps are bad design and they all need to be replaced by fixed number effects that don’t scale out of control when stacked across several item slots.
I already think that increase enchantment power by X% is a BAAAD idea. The gems are boring and pretty much always are going to be “meta” in some way for or another.
i dont think “wiping the game”(???) is required over a few dudes doing minmaxing in a singleplayer/coop pve game lmfao, that’s an insane overreaction
they can just add diminishing returns, clamping etc and the game is wiping saves anyways on the class update so it’s not a big deal. there wont be legacy items
I’d agree the gems are more problematic. They’re “boring” compared to other gems since they just enhance the enchantments, while other gems engage with specific game mechanics. The biggest issue with them really is that they limit the enchantment design space (if they remain, every enchant needs to be balanced with the consideration that someone might be running these gems).
With that said, all the on durability enchants are problematic as well. It would be largely fixed if the equation was like:
1.7 x (cur durability / max durability after all modifiers)
from my understanding it’s now like:
1.7 x cur durability * durability increase
Which of course can then be multiplicatively increased again by the gems in question.
A lot of the current balance issues could be fixed with this kind of approach IMO (Should negative max health modifiers allow you to always be considered on low health?)
Yeah, that’s a completely overblown reaction for a game with no online economy.
If people want to ruin their own fun, let them… no one is stopping them from modding themselves to be invulnerable either.
