Removing runes without destroying the weapon

This has probably been requested before, but please let runes be unslotted without destroying the weapon. There isn’t much reason to do so aside from forcing players to grind more, and it makes me hesitate to use runes in fear of ruining a weapon or losing a rune. It would also let us change the controls for runes.

Yes, I agree. The developers added this mechanic following a game design principle, namely “make player choices important”. Essentially, if you can completely undo your previous choices without any consequences, your choices are less important.

That said, I’m not in agreement with this choice, because adding and removing runes already costs money, and finding the runes you’re looking for is almost entirely dependent on your skill.

A good compromise would be: Eleonor when maxed out, allows you to remove runes and gems without destroying your equipment (which would also make upgrading Eleonor useful for non-mages).

This a Feature in the Experimental Branch.

You can destroy a Rune, and place a new one, you can also select the slot, for example i destroyed the base rune on X (Xbox Controller Layout) and only have rune on Y and A.

So if its not changing this will be added in January

This feature you’re talking about has been in the game since at least the Crucible Update.

By remove he means Extract the rune and then place it wherever you want but without destroying the weapon or the rune.

Since some runes are rare you don’t want to destroy them, just to try new runes, which you might not like, but you don’t even want to destroy the weapon you’re using Obviously.

If for example I am using two weapons in my build and I want to move a rune from one weapon to the other, to do this i have to find the same rune again which depending on the RNG can take days, then spend money to destroy the rune on the first weapon and then spend money to set the rune in the other weapon.

Being forced destroys one or the other creates a useless wall only for those who love to experiment with new builds, forcing players to grind more just to move a rune you like, without destroying a weapon you like.

Ah oka, didnt remeber that, havent played stable in some time, but i do think it is partially resolved, since you can just craft the weapon you got the rune from in the first place, and then extract/ reslot it which cost 41 copper only

The price is variable and can cost even more than 2 silver

That’s what I was hoping for when I heard about the research table, but even if this system reduces RNG, it’s not a good system to get a rune. The ingredients for the weapons cost a lot, they’re hard to find, and they’re also RNG. The materials you use to get this rune are thrown away and are worth too much to make any use of them, so you can’t do it. If you do, you risk not having the materials to upgrade/build your weapon and armor in the future.
