[Combined] Please fix this (Empty weapon slots still selectable)

Could we get a button to lock the second or third weapon slot? I like to swap between two weapons but swapping to the third makes me unarmed.

This. I see it is not an issue for many right now, but once you start using multiple weapons, its a pain to have to d-pad past an empty slot.

I use a bow and a shield in my off-hand, and now I have to d-pad 2 times to move past the empty weapon slot to get back to my shield.

With 2 weapon slots open it was bow, shield, bow, shield.

Now it’s bow, shield, empty, bow, shield.

It makes battles more difficult because you have and empty slot showing up when 3 slots are open.

yes, when changing weapon it should switch only between equipped weapons and skip the empty slots. only when there is no weapon equipped in any slots should the character use fists or make it option in settings to toggle this feature on and off. (accidentally pressing to switch weapon for fists getting me nearly killed too many times :smile: )

Taking the keyboard as an example, the character’s main weapon and secondary weapon both have a vacant slot. In the current operation, switching weapons requires pressing “Z” or “X” on the keyboard to skip the blank slot. Empty spaces should be automatically skipped, which saves you pressing a button and makes it faster and more convenient.

I don’t understand English, so everything depends on translation. Sorry for posting in the wrong place. This game has a good foundation. Hope it gets better and better.

Unarmed combat is an interesting gameplay option, but I would like to see it as an explicit “opt-in” system on the inventory paper doll screen, rather than the implicit version we have now where every unfilled main hand or offhand slot is automatically assigned as “unarmed”. Maybe press L3 or R3 or something while hovering over an empty slot to opt in to “unarmed” assignment for that slot?

The specific case I’m addressing is where a player has two primary main hand weapons they swap between as part of their build, but the third (empty) “unarmed” weapon slot remains on their dpad weapon cycle. In this case (two “weapons assigned” slots plus a third empty slot), I’d prefer to have the empty slot omitted altogether from the dpad quickswap cycle. If a player specifically wants to use unarmed combat, let them opt in to assigning “unarmed” to the dpad quickswap cycle explicitly.

It feels really bad to get into the groove for an EK fight, only to accidentally fat-finger weapon swapping while trying to heal myself or regain Focus.

And what’s even worse, unlike MKB players, pad players have no way of disabling weapon swap.

I would genuinely prefer if we could disable weapon swapping if we don’t have anything equipped on the other slots.

If this is not possible, than also give players the ability to change their controls on pad.

Ive done this also, best not to use ichor for weapons slots atm

Having the option of using multiple weapons (primary and off hand ) is a great idea
Problem is sometimes I switch to my 2nd or 3rd weapon slot when trying to chug health or potions AND the damn slot is empty.

Would it make sense that if the slot is empty, changing to it doesn’t work?

For folks that have loaded torches with ruins, perhaps LB works when using a double hand weapon ?

Torch does zero damage so it gets treated as an exception ?

I suggest make switch weapons between slots that only contain weapon, so if slot is empty, next weapon will be selected instead this empty slot.

This question should be able to provide an option in the settings to “choose the next weapon immediately”. Some people expect to use fists, while others expect to use weapons. In my opinion, players should choose for themselves

100% agree. Unlocking 3rd weapon slot is a single major mistakes I did with my build.
I would very much prefer if it was not available during weapon switching, when it is empty. Or if I could lock it
 or whatever
 it is only punishing me and imho simply useless, at least at this stage / state of the game (EA).

The game does have fist combat, how do you switch to it if you cant go to an empty slot.

Maybe for off hand it can ignore the empty slot but for main hand you need empty slot.

Also I like having all those slots, my steup is.
2h sword, 1h katana, dual dagger
Bow, shield, torch

As for torches been allowed with 2h weapon I would like it, but I think the game is actually balanced for 2h vs 1h+shield vs 1h+bow vs 1h+torch, so 2h+torch will break the balance. Or they could just rebalance it and make it work.

yea i have the same problem. I would add this: even if you have 3 slots for the weapons, if the other two are empty the game should not allow to switch because most of the times this happens because people eat or take consumables.

I would like the option to LOCK the slot even after Unlocking it as sometimes I use 3 weapons and other times just 2. I think being able to lock inventory items as well as our equipped items and slots would go a long way.

Since we can only equip 1 food and 1 quick item but are able to swap quickly, it’d be nice to also let us lock items we don’t want to transfer during “Transfer Similar Items”.

Furthermore, not showing me Food and Quick Items I have but Do Not Want to Use would also be a nice QOL. Let me lock which items show in the Quick Menu.

This is fixed with a Sheathe option which I was surprised we didn’t get as we are clearly going to fight that guy in Sacrament one day. I see a Sheathe option being a nice QoL. For the same reason i don’t have all my weapons out at once, I see no reason we can’t just put away 1 more and go to fists without having to remove weapons from slots.

Going to bump this because it is definitely a thing. An unlocked and unused weapon slot should not be an option when switching between weapons with the DPad. I had extra ichor and decided to unlock stuff, but didn’t really intend to use a 3rd weapon, and now having to toggle past unarmed for every weapon swap is definitely a hinderance.

I support this, I have same issue with it and I regret unlocking 3rd slot for weapon. ACtually I would even prefer to lock back my second one :slight_smile:

As in the subject - swapping you mainhand or offhand item always iterate all enabled slots - whether they are or are not used at the moment.

for the mainhand it kind of makes sense if you want to use your fists, for the sidehand though


It kind of would make sense for mainhand, if it was scaling / improving somewhat. For now, fists do 5 damage per hit (at 30) and the game doesn’t even bother showing “fists” stats (they scale with nothing from what I can see).

So, I’d expect fists to be available as a last resort - e.g. when all the slots are unequipped.
