Final Thought
This mode would not replace the core experience — it would enhance it, giving players a reason to keep mastering the combat system long after the main journey ends.
Don’t take my word for it, but isn’t that somewhat planned anyway? I think in some interviews they mentioned that duels are in because they might wanna expand on PvP with Arena… even with some ideas floating around like betting for Gear and stuff.
About Rewards: Cosmetics only sounds good, but not sure if/how they’d implement it without transmog… (still hoping they’ll add transmog in the longhaul, and i’m fine witht he compromise of archetypes onle (like plate-to-plate).
Still as mentioned in the other post, i’m all open about optional PvP may it be arena, invasions, etc as long as it’s not forced on people.
sounds a bit too easy?
But if the rewards were Crafting Materials that are only obtainable through this Arena Mode which are to be used only towards Crafting Arena Specifics such as Cosmetics, House interior, etc.
I believe you would be showcasing that mastery sooner or later, atleast it adds a sense of progression towards it?
Im neither for transmog or against it, but when we are talking about Cosmetics i wouldnt refer to it as transmog?
If i understand the Question correctly:
My Argument is based on the mock-up picture shown at the top, which shows you an Armor as well an Weapon. How can you deliever a ‘cosmetic’ only’ without transmog-system (on a mechanical side) implemented.?
Would we get a the piece of gear we equip in the Armor-slot without baseline stats/armor etc, then it begs the question who would use it. If it does have baseline stats/armor, than it’s not cosmetic only.
Maybe i took the mockup-picture a bit to literate based on what it was presented, but i’d also argue IF armor and weapon (cosmetic only) are suggested (and often even expected), it also opens up to the debate how it is implemented, and i’d say transmog is part of the conversation then.
IF with cosmetics it’s stuff like purely Housing Items (tho if we are already pedantic about it, considering that housing stuff contributes to comfort system, it’s also not purely cosmetic either) and such, then sure Cosmetics =//= Tranmogs.
