# "Unassigned Keys" on Mouse & Keyboard when using "Combined + Rune Selection"

**Bug**

When assigning hotkeys receive “Unassigned Keys” message.

- I’m using mouse & keyboard
- Only happening after patch [Early Access Patch Notes - Together Hotfix 2](https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1371980/view/518610613985872725)
- Seems to be only when using `Combined + Rune Selection`
- Only happens when assigning keys In-game, can assign from Main Menu successfully
- Assigning of keys works from the Main Menu (however my `Food` button works until I go back into the `Controls > Customize Keys` menu then becomes “Unassigned” and have to reset it from Main Menu)

**Suggestion**

Remove the “You have unfinished changes” message and remove the automatic reverting of scheme to previous settings so that hotkeys can be applied.

Or enable a toggle in menu which allows the player to turn this “reverting” off so they can override.

**My Settings**

My current configuration is the following so you can try replicating:

- **Note:** I have also tried different standard keys (e.g. letters + numbers only, no special character or function keys) and still experience the same issue.

Character

- Forward: `w`
- Backward: `s`
- Left: `a`
- Right: `d`
- Interact: `f`
- Food: `f5`
- Quick Item: `1`
- Walk to Mouse: `right mouse button`
- Sneak / Drop Down: `q`
- Run: `space`
- Dodge: `space`
- Toggle Walk/Run: `t`

Combat

- Attack: `left mouse button`
- Rune Attack: `7`
- Mainhand item: `z`
- Offhand item: `x`
- Utility Runes: `alt`
- Offhand Use: `shift`
- Parry: `6`
- Shoulder Barge: `v`
- Toggle Runes: `ctrl`
- Target Lock: `e`

Shortcuts

- Inventory: `b`
- Journal: `l`
- Gestures: `g`
- Map: `m`

Runes

- Rune 1: `1`
- Rune 2: `2`
- Rune 3: `3`
- Rune 4: `4`

It’s the F5 button.

As far it only working from Main Menu and not in-game, nice find!

I will let Moon know about this Nuibbles.
