Still a pleasure to come back and play again here from time to time. One of the most promising game. Anyway here are a few things I hope are worked on.
TL;DR: better UI, more randomness, and more systems.
UI/UX
There are a lot of little things that are unsafe or uncomfortable when using the UI: bad UX behaviours, bad user feedback, limited infos, difficulties to see where is the focus, missing capabilities, etc… I could list many of them but I’m pretty sure you are aware of them. I just wonder why you don’t fix them progressively during the early access. A few examples:
- when dealing with a vendor, I shouldn’t have to first skip its dialog each time
- In the bounty and challenge interface, I should better see where is the current focus (selection) without having to move the selection to identify where it actually is. It is currently too subtle. (Same in the options menu for top tabs)
- When selling items, items should not reorder when another is sold: it prevents the user to remember the place of previously inspected items and can lead to errors
- Equipped items should probably not be listed in the items to sell…
- Buy and sell could be the same interface instead of two different tabs
- There should be somewhere where user can see all her/his character combined stats from all equipped items.
- A rune should tell which type of weapon can use it
- Many items description could be more informative
Randomness
Currently, a session is not « random » enough. Sure, there are a lot of small differences. But when I spend 1 hour travelling and fighting, the session result is itself quite predictable. It’s not only about better loots. But also about more overall randomness. More unpredictability. Currently, I can’t really be surprised
Sub-systems
I don’t hear that much about plans for more intricate sub-systems to play with. I’m interested by factions that have been mentioned. But overall I think that there should be more little systems here and there. More interactivity with the world. I’ll be honest: « rebuilding sacrament » in its current state is not very exciting for me. Especially after the first time. It lacks variety: result is always the same. There’s just one way to do it. Two realms are the same. It’s the exact opposite of a sandbox.
I would love to hear and see more about these topics.
I hope it doesn’t sound too negative. I just want this awesome game to become my home for a long time.
Edit: removed the class section as it’s addressed by the upcoming job system
