First of all, I absolutely love the direction Moon Studios is taking with the new class system, 362 traits, and Cerim Cores.

But I think there’s an incredible opportunity here.

Since players can exceed their Cerim Core capacity at the cost of taking significantly more damage, why not allow them to build characters capable of extreme speed, aggression, and combat fluidity?

I’m thinking about **Ninja Gaiden 4, especially on Master Ninja difficulty**.

In that game, you can be incredibly fast and aggressive, but that doesn’t make the game easy. Quite the opposite. Enemies are just as aggressive as you are, and surviving requires exceptional mastery of dodging, positioning, timing, and combat mechanics.

I’d love to see something similar become possible through builds in No Rest for the Wicked:

- Traits that dramatically increase attack speed and combat mobility.
- Advanced animation cancels and smoother transitions between attacks, dodges, and weapon skills.
- Synergies that allow skilled players to maintain relentless offensive pressure.
- The possibility of sacrificing defensive capabilities to push offensive freedom even further.

**The idea isn’t to make the player overpowered without consequences. It’s to let players become extremely powerful if they have the skill to survive with almost no room for mistakes.**

For example, I’d love to create a blood-themed Cerim using dual swords, a fast greatsword, a scythe, kunai, and light armor, fighting with the speed and aggression of Yakumo from Ninja Gaiden 4.

I think the new build system could make something like this possible.

My main suggestion is simple:

**Don’t limit extreme offensive builds purely because they might become too fast or aggressive. Let the risk, enemy aggression, and required player mastery balance that freedom.**

A beginner might struggle terribly with such a build, while an experienced player could turn it into an incredible display of combat mastery.

That would make character progression feel like more than just increasing stats. It would allow players to truly transform the way their Cerim fights.

I’d love to hear what the developers and community think about this approach!

This is a difficult one, but im not completely against it.

I can atleast imagine a possible further extension of the Cerim Cores system, or some additional system like a “Cerim Fission/Fusion Cores” different sacrifices for different unique effects, or something more closely similar to what you said:

> The possibility of sacrificing defensive capabilities to push offensive freedom even further.

However some weapon movesets already have that dramatic attack speed increase for certain attacks, but yea i get your overall point. 👍

Thanks for considering the idea! If you get the chance, I’d recommend playing Ninja Gaiden 4 on at least Hard difficulty, and progressing far enough to really explore Yakumo’s techniques, weapon transformations and their interactions. That would give you a much clearer reference for the feeling I’m describing. 🙂

It goes beyond attack speed: it’s the continuity between fast attacks, powerful Bloodraven techniques, offensive movement and defensive responses. You have tremendous freedom to maintain pressure, but using that freedom effectively demands control, precision and an understanding of the enemies.

The difficulty matters because that freedom remains something you have to master. Being extremely aggressive doesn’t mean you can stop reading your opponents or ignore your mistakes.

That’s the feeling I’d love to build toward in Wicked through combinations of traits, Cerim Cores, weapons and special attacks. I’m willing to sacrifice substantial defensive protection to support that offensive freedom, provided the resulting build rewards the skill needed to sustain it.
