Research table UI: cannot press Left to select Refinery/Storage/Other if the current top category is Refinery/Storage/Other (controller)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the Research menu at the table.

  2. Navigate so the top category is Structures

  3. Close the Research menu at the table

  4. Open the Research menu at the table again

  5. Attempt to press Left to try selecting something other than Crafting Tables (or whatever sub-menu is opened)

Expected: Pressing Left should move focus into the selected top category’s list.

Actual: Left doesn’t enter/select that category; I have to switch to a different top category first, then switch back, before Left works.

Frequency: 100%

Workaround: Change top category from Structures to something else, then back.

(Minor bug)

Use the Scribe Table next to Danos, after leaving it on the Structures menu, it will not allow you to scroll down the menu (that says Crafting Tables, Refineries, Storage, Other). It will be stuck on Crafting Tables.

The fix is to use triggers to go into another menu and switch back.

This also happens to me with my Gulikit controller, which emulates an xbox controller internally.

Update; the bug only happens if the research menu is already on the structures tab when you access the scribe table.

This video shows me trying to scroll over to the sub-menu under both circumstances. At first it is fine, since I moved into the structures tab. Then, once I leave the table and re-enter it, I can no longer go into the sub-menu to select other types of structures until I tab out of the structures tab and back in.

Description: Playing with PS5 controller and interacting with the scribe table UI bug if it was closed prior on the Structures tab.

Severity: Low

Reproducible: Always

Steps:

  1. Open Scribe Table and go to “Structures”
  2. Close Scribe Table
  3. Open Scribe Table and try to select any sub category on left. i.e. Refineries, storage , …
    1. Pressing left direction will not allow sub category selection.
    2. Pressing O to go back just closes Table.
  4. This requires changing to new category via R2/L2 and then it works until you leave/reenter Table.
