Hey there, been playing for a while now. I focused heavily on meele and I enjoyed 1h, 2h or DW weapons pretty much.
However one thing I am missing is something in between 1h Sword and DW Daggers.
I am actually doing a martial art with swords called “Kendo”. It is basically like fencing only Samurai Style in a way. In that sport we also train, once skilled enough with one sword, the use of two swords. We call this the Nito-Style.
But you don’t use two regular sized swords. That is usually cinematic bullshit. Usually you use a short sword and a regular one.
Since you already got the wakizashi in the game, adding 1h Katana and a DW Katana+Wakizashi would be awesome.
I think this could be of course slower then fighting with two daggers and requires somewhat different animations but it could be regular speed for the long sword and a quick speed for the off-hand attack. That would make it in total slower then the daggers but still faster to weave in two attacks than with one regular 1h.
Also you could emphasize on parry with this DW setup, as traditionally the short sword is used a lot to deflect the opponents sword out of the way to strike. In addition, the long sword could also act as a light shield block. Which we also use sometimes.
That would be cool and somewhat a realistic use of DW as well.
Also here would be some references on how two swords are used in our setting.
