Please make dodge be used on key press, not key release

Well thats because you haven’t configured your Xbox controller in steam controller settings.

coming from monster hunter, i need to run then if i press roll, it becomes a dive. when i need to run i hold run. when i need to roll, i press roll.

its wild how in nrftw both run and dash/roll are on the same button.

i’ve dashed into the abyss countless times where i wanted to run.

Just rebind if you dont like to have them on the same key/button?

I really like having run and dodge on the same button, if they make this change I would like the option to have the old system still available in the settings

addressing both of you at once. i m a big fan of options. the fact we can change them is a good feature.

personally i feel it could be a better idea for it to be 2 separate buttons by default to prevent newer players from making unnecessary mistakes and giving them unnecessary frustration.

i’ve played many arpgs. most arpgs have a dedicated dodge button. it encourages precise game play.

sometimes i m near a ledge. thought process: i m gonna start running to the next location.

tapped dodge instead of hold = to the abyss i go

sometimes i m fighting a boss. thought process: ok hes gonna make a huge swing, let me dodge at the right moment.

held the dodge button a little too long = WHY AM I NOT DODGING!!!

I use an old wired controller without any rgb instead of my newer wireless controllers because they introduce weird issues and instability in some games.
(Probably the dongle that is the problem but I also know that a wired connection is always more stable than a wireless one)

(why I say without rgb is because that also increase the latency so a wireless controller with rgb lighting off is better than a wireless controller with rgb lighting on. rgb on can potentially increase the risks of interference with any type of wireless signal even on wired rgb equipment)

I backstab on press i haven’t had any issues with charge attacks. There are some enemies that “seem” to be immune to backstabs as the prompt never appear even if I sneak up on them. Witches seem to be immune to every backstab because I’ve not gotten the prompt ever but they are also very squishy.

In-game settings:
I highly recommend RT for mainhand Rune selection and LT as offhand Rune selection instead of RB and LB. I haven’t tried rolling/dash and running on Bumpers but I believe it could fix some issues.(I could probably do that if I had 2 extra macro buttons on my controller)

I use utility Runes on LB and Parry on RB because for me those refuse to be hold buttons just slight movement to the side while holding them down makes em lose their input (it’s a very old controller but Parry feels much better on a click then on a trigger and yes I know that bumpers is made for being clicked and not held because of the name, smart bumpers can reduce the time it takes to register a button press)
