Heavy shield charge currently seems to:
- Not do damage.
- Does not interact with enemy’s poise meter in an intuitive way. (something weird is going on there)
I’ve had enemy’s poise meter reset mid combat while i’m still hitting them, after pre engaging enemy with a shield charge (makes them fall down, and they get back up, then keep hitting them.)
I don’t know if it’s because the shield body check pushing the enemy to the ground is considered a different thing than a poise break, or what?
On my thorns build, with a Falstead’s Barricade you’d think it would do damage in some way…
What do you mean by a ‘heavy shield charge’? The regular shoulder barge move, I assume?
The shoulder barge does no damage and inflicts a guaranteed knockdown, like certain runes do. In a knockdown state, no additional poise build-up is taken, and poise may even decay (as it naturally does after a few seconds of not taking additional poise damage). Knockdown is a separate mechanic from poise break.
I would not think Thorns or Falstead’s Barricade do damage on a shove, as you aren’t blocking or taking damage. Why would they? Because the shield is modelled with spikes?
Shields are getting runes with the class update. You may receive shield-charge runes that knock down and do damage.
Just my 2 cents: heavy load charge is absolutely insane during normal overworld, but does nothing in major boss fights afaik.
So I certainly don’t think it needs to be buffed or adjusted in normal play, but it should be double checked for boss fights
Agreed. The exception being the Riven Twins, who can be staggered out of most attacks (including the spin, throw, and bubble summon) with a shove or any other guaranteed knockdown.
Thanks for sharing, I didn’t know that
