Did you already try to verify your game files via Steam? After hotfixes and patches, things can sometimes break for people. Verifying the files can help resolving the issue without attempting to de-install, re-download, re-install.
Yes and it didn’t work so I will try do re install the game today.
update: i tried to re install the game and it didnt fix it i still have a black screen with music and when i press anything it still says norestforthewicked.exe doesnt react
i got the game to run but now i cant use my dualsense controller
Hmm. Almost makes it sound like it’s an issue generated by your controller somehow? Are you using any third-party software alongside that controller like “DS4 Windows” or something?
I’ve been having the same problem 4 out of 5 launches since the latest patch. I just get a black screen with music. Verifying the game files makes no difference.
THANK YOU!
That drove me nuts.
Waited for anything from 5min to 20min.
With V-Sync Off, it took 15 sec !!
I have the same exact issue on my computer. I have actually been able to get past the black screen when it’s launching, but only after waiting for a extremely long time. Same error appears if I press anything on my pc when it’s on the black screen with the music. Though I’m able to get into the game eventually, it doesn’t take long for the game to crash and kick me out.
Hey please send all the information requested here:
so the video shows you crashing in Orban Glades? Are you crashing when loading the game as well? or are you only crashing when in game?
Yes, this video shows me crashing in Orban Glades. The video was cut right when the game crashed. The game either crashes when I’m launching the game (before title screen) or while playing the game (like in the video). In the game, it either crashes when I’m running around the map too much or when in a battle with other enemies (usually when there’s more than one enemy attacking).
are you able to provide your crash logs mentioned on step 4 here?
thank you I will send the information along to the tech department
the game closes after passing the Moon Studios logo, and after a loading icon appears and a number appears in the corner of the screen.
After the Moon Studios logo appears, a completely black screen appears and an icon with a game symbol appears indicating that something is loading, but it freezes and after a few seconds it closes.
Exactly on that screen
Hey @Erik_Silva_II
Sorry to hear you are having issues starting the game. Can you include your logs and datastore from the paths here:
We will look into this asap once we get your files.
Looping in @Steve_Jewer
Hello, I have been a user of No Rest for the Wicked since almost the moment it came out. I think it is an incredible game and I would like to continue playing it. I stopped playing it a while ago due to content issues. When I started playing, I noticed that it took a long time to start and many times it didn’t start on the first try, not to say that 90% of the time it didn’t start on the first try. However, when I started it again it worked. Well, I haven’t played it for a few months, and now the game doesn’t start. The MOONSTUDIOS logo appears, but when the red loading icon appears on the left, 2-4 seconds pass and it automatically exits. I don’t know why it is but I can’t get in. I have tried to verify the files and everything is correct, I have tried to remove any antivirus, I have put it in firewall exclusions, I have removed many programs from the task manager, I have run it in administrator. I have tried to restart the computer and run it again. I really don’t understand why it won’t run. Apart from the problem I had before with the start-ups, the game worked relatively well and I was happy. I’ve played 73 hours and I wouldn’t like to ask for a refund. It’s a game that I would like to see succeed because it’s a very good game, both artistically and gameplay-wise. I ask you to attend to my problem urgently and don’t wait too long because I’m a little annoyed with the start-up of this one.
I’m going to leave some information about my PC and the game.
If anyone wants to help me or needs more information from me to solve the problem, please let me know in this post.

Can you please share your logfiles and crash report as stated here: How to Properly Report Bugs!
also, i will merge this with the other threads reporting the same issue
Dear developers, after the last update, the game crashes before entering the menu, after loading.
The same problem occurred after the last global update Crucible.
As you explained last time, the problem was in the processors’ support for something there. Maybe it’s the same this time?
