"Auto Target Enemies" setting changes turn rate of player

Toggling the gameplay setting “Auto Target Enemies” causes the player’s turn rate to change significantly. This is a bug since it should only affect targeting and removing the need for the player to target enemies, NOT the turn rate of the player.

What happens is:

  • when it’s on, the player’s turn rate is much faster;
  • when it’s off, the player’s turn rate is slower.

This can be seen in the following test scenario:

  • with the setting off, and with your character fully unequipped (no weapons, no armor, no rings, etc.), perform a charge LMB attack directly behind the player and observe how the player makes a tight turn to face the opposite direction;
  • with the same player conditions but with the setting OFF, do the same charge attack directly behind the player and observe how the player makes a much looser turn in the opposite direction.

This makes it significantly more difficult to play with “Auto Target Enemies” off since, even with precise clicking on KB+M to target in the direction of enemies, you’ll still very often miss due to having to turn much slower before you can attack, a problem that doesn’t exist with the setting turned ON due to the much faster turn rate it gives you.
